Diversity & Inclusion in Sport Alliance (DISA)
Pride in Sport is a proud founding partner of the Diversity and Inclusion in Sport Alliance (DISA), playing a key role in its establishment and ongoing success. Beau Newell, Pride in Sport’s National Program Manager, currently serves as the Chairperson of the DISA Steering Group. The Steering Group is composed of experts with professional and lived experience from a diverse range of organisations, including the Australian Sports Commission, CMSport, Play by the Rules, Monash University, and Victoria University. Together, these leaders guide the Alliance in its mission to promote diversity and inclusion across the Australian sporting community.
Aims
The Diversity and Inclusion in Sport Alliance (DISA) is a national collective of professionals dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion across the Australian sporting landscape. Our goal is to create a cohesive and welcoming community in sport by working collaboratively and taking into account perspectives from all States and Territories. We aim to influence both national and international policy, decision-making, and community practices to foster a more inclusive environment in sports.
Values
DISA operates with a strong commitment to the following values:
- Cooperation: We work together to achieve the best possible outcomes.
- Collaboration: We pool our knowledge, experience, and skills to support DISA’s growth and impact.
- Partnership: We share equally in both the successes and challenges of our work.
- Respect: We honour the expertise of our colleagues and value every member’s opinions.
- Welcome: We strive to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for all.
About The Alliance
DISA members actively work within their organisations to champion diversity and inclusion in sport. As a collective, we harness our resources to provide events, information, and tools that educate the community, influence policy makers, and promote evidence-based action on diversity and inclusion issues. Our mission is to inspire and equip individuals and organisations with the knowledge and confidence to break down barriers and create more equitable sporting environments.
