2017 Winners

In its inaugural year, the 2017 Pride in Sport Awards was a groundbreaking event, celebrated as part of the Australian LGBTI Inclusion Awards, alongside Pride in Diversity’s corporate awards.

This milestone highlighted the achievements of trailblazers in LGBTQ+ inclusion across sport, with awards recognising organisations, athletes, clubs, and initiatives that led the way in creating safe and inclusive environments.

Key awards included Organisation of the Year, which was presented to the Australian Football League (AFL), and recognition of inclusive initiatives like the Water Polo Pride Cup. The event marked the start of a legacy that continues to drive progress in Australian sport.
